Oak Farm Wedding – Jenny & Richard

I joined Jenny & Richard last weekend for their wedding at St Benedicts Church, Wombourne & the Oak Farm Hotel in Cannock. As the guests arrived at the church Richard was looking a little nervous, not helped by one of the wedding rings trying to escape down one of the grates at the church. Fortunately the ring was recovered just just before Jenny arrived!

Jenny was greeted by her Bridesmaids and they were soon walking down the isle towards an emotional Richard. The service was fantastic and they were soon taking their first steps as man and wife. After a couple of portraits outside the church we had enough time to capture all of their guests throwing confetti and then on to the reception.

At the Oak Farm hotel near Cannock all of the guests were enjoying the late summer sun as we covered the few group shots (avoiding the fast moving bridesmaids as they ran and played on the grass) After capturing a couple more portraits in the picturesque  grounds of Oak farm it was time to move inside for the speeches and Wedding breakfast.

I was only with Jenny & Richard for a short time but it was easy to spot the two are made for each other and I wish them both well for the future.

Somerford Hall Wedding – Lynne & Onkar

I recently photographed Lynne & Onkars wedding. For the second time this year it was a two day event. The first day we were at the Guru Nanak Gurdwara in Wednesfield for their Sikh ceremony and for the second day we were at the wonderful Somerford Hall in Brewood, just outside Wolverhampton.

This was my second Sikh wedding and just like the first, I really enjoyed it. The whole ceremony is steeped in tradition and very different to western weddings. Lynne looked stunning as she entered the Gurdwara and Onkar was grinning from ear to ear. I am starting to learn my way around things now so felt comfortable moving around the temple as there are many great spots to take photographs and I think the whole spectacle is enhanced by the bright bold colours being worn by the female guests.

As I arrived at Lynne’s parents house for the second day it was like being greeted by friends, I really don’t think I could have been made more welcome, Lynne’s Father even remembered how I took my coffee! Once again As Lynne got into her dress she looked fantastic, I thought we were going to have a few tears from her Dad but he managed to hold them back. Once we arrived at Somerford Hall Lynne continued her preparations upstairs while Onkar greeted his guests. The ceremony was held in the blue Ball room which is great as the light in there is really good as you will see from the ceremony photograph below. As soon as the ceremony was concluded the guests spilled out onto the patio to enjoy the afternoon sunshine.

The whole two days were fantastic, from being made to feel so welcome, the excitement and energy of the guests to the wonderful match of the Bride and Groom and to top everything off I was married at Somerford Hall almost 4 years to the day.

Wedding at Chillington Hall, Kate & Andrew

Last weekend saw the marriage of Kate and Andrew and what a great day it was. Once again blessed by the great British weather I started out at Kate’s house to capture her preparations. The whole morning was so laid back and relaxed I almost forget I was capturing a brides just before her wedding. A couple of minor mishaps that could have derailed some other Brides were simply shrugged away as a minor inconvenience, nothing was to break the chilled out mood.

The ceremony was held at  St John the Evangelist church in Essington. The ceremony was a wonderful event with the children playing at the back of the church while Kate and Andrew were married. After the ceremony we spilled out into the church grounds to capture the few group photographs in the shade of some large trees.

Once we arrived at Chillington Kate, Andrew and myself slipped away to the lake to capture a few portraits before returning to the house so they could enjoy some time with their guests. After the speeches and just around sunset we managed to head back over to the lake for one last portrait of them both with the lake behind them and the sun setting in the distance. I think it is a wonderful shot of them both as it really shows the closeness and love between them.

Once back at Chillington The night progressed with wild dancing, a Robbie Williams tribute and then rounded off by fireworks.

I always love weddings at Chillington hall, especially when the Bride and Groom are as easy to work with as Kate and Andrew.

Rowton castle wedding – Nicole & Marc

Combine a wonderful English summers day, A fantastic couple and a whole load of Australians and your in for a great wedding and thats exactly what we had last week for Nicole and Marc’s wedding at Rowton castle, Shrewsbury.

I started the day off with Nicole at her house to capture her preparations for the big day. Everything started off nice and calmly, in fact, Nicole was a picture of serenity as her bridesmaids had their makeup applied but the nearer we got to our deadline for leaving the more the excitement and nerves grew. Fortunately, Nicole had arranged for a lot of the guests to leave the house prior to her getting into her dress, partly so they wouldn’t see it until she walked down the isle and partly so the bridal party could return to the state of calm they were in when I arrived.

After collecting the wedding car we made our way to Rowton castle under fabulous blue skies. Nicole looked stunning as she walked down the isle, so stunning she made Marc get all emotional as he saw her for the first time that day. The ceremony was delightful and as soon as it was over the whole wedding party made there way out into the grounds of the castle where they enjoyed their Champagne as I photographed the group shots and Nicole and Marc’s portraits.

After the wedding breakfast and speeches were completed we had just enough time to get a few evening portraits as the sun set over the distant trees and then it was time for the party to get going. Nicole and Marc started of the dancing surrounded by a could of bubbles, I don’t think they could have looked more happy.

The wedding party danced long into the night, enjoying every minute of the party. I also enjoyed myself the whole day as everyone made it a joy for me to take photographs, I really do love my job!

Civil Partnership, Wales – Helen & Jenna

Last weekend I made the journey across to Wales to capture Helen & Jenna’s civil partnership (hereafter known as their wedding) I was very concerned about the weather on Friday evening as I drove to Wales through torrential rain which didn’t stop until some time in the early hours of Saturday. Fortunately the only rain to be seen that day was during the drive to the wedding venue, The Bryn Howel hotel, Llangollen. On arrival I located both Helen and Jenna’s hotel rooms which were on different sides of the hotel! (I am normally busy enough with one Bride but having two on opposite sides of the hotel was going to keep me fit!) Both Brides were very nervous during the morning preparations although things did seem to calm the nearer we got to the ceremony.

With civil partnerships being so new there do not seem to be any set ways of doing things and because of this, Helen & Jenna walked down the isle together. This was a lovely moment and added a lot of importance to the fact they would enter and leave the room together but they would be leaving the room married. The main focus of the photographs was to document things as they happened so we only had a short time to cover the couple of groups and a few portraits before the Brides were back with their guests, enjoying the wedding.

Helen & Jenna make a lovely couple and I know they have a long and happy marriage ahead of them.
