My Biography

I’ve had a love of photography since I first picked up my Dads ‘Zenith’ 35mm camera and started taking photos of our pets and of local buildings. I was probably around 11 then, that was quite a few years ago!

My passion was reignited back in 1999 when I started a two year stint documenting the happenings at a nightclub in Manchester. It started out as a bit of fun but as I shot more and more nightclubs I started thinking more seriously about my photography. Things peaked with the nightclubs in 2004 when I was granted special access to shoot Global Gathering (the UK’s premier dance festival) It was at this point I knew I could make a living from my photography.

I was asked by some work colleagues to cover their wedding reception as the main photographer was due to finish just before the wedding breakfast. This was my first taste of wedding photography and photojournalism to be more precise. My work colleagues were delighted with the images I captured that evening and their enthusiasm and joy made me start out as a wedding photographer. I have a lot to thank Richard and Maxine for, as without the invitation to cover their wedding I may have never found wedding photography.

Over the years my style has developed to what it is today but that journey is by no means complete. Every wedding I shoot I learn something new or try something different. I have also been lucky enough to have attended seminars by two of the worlds greatest wedding photographers, Jeff Ascough and Marcus Bell. Both of these photographers have influenced my photojournalistic style. Jeff’s amazing natural, candid images started my love affair with black and white photographs. I love the timeless, classic appeal of them and the fact the true emotion of the people is much more prominent. The emotion and intimacy of Marcus Bell’s work inspired me to always be on the lookout for the tiniest touch of hands or the briefest glimpse or smile as these are the little moments that are truly invaluable.

I’m based in Wolverhampton, England but I have photographed weddings all over the UK. I have always been happy to travel and the great thing with covering the whole of the UK is you get to see some spectacular venues and meet some wonderful people.

I am proud to be a recommended supplier at Chillington Hall, Somerford Hall, Alrewas Hayes, Hogarths Hotel and The Heath House.
