Hoar Cross & Uttoxeter wedding – Sophie & Ed

A few weeks ago I covered Sophie and Ed’s wedding at Hoar Cross Church and later at the marque erected at Ed’s parents house in Uttoxeter.

Hoar Cross church is directly outside of the beautiful spa, Hoar Cross Hall. The church is one of the most attractive I have been fortunate to have worked at although it is very dark and really pushed the equipment to the limit. After the ceremony we spent a few minutes walking around the Hall’s grounds taking some portraits as we went.

After the church we went back to Ed’s parents and were greeted by two large, yellow JCBs. Ed works for the company and thought it would be an interesting touch to have them forming an arch over the entrance to the marque.

As with our portrait shoot (can be viewed here) Sophie and Ed were a joy to work with and I wish them all the best for the future.

I live in the United States in Narragansett, Rhode Island, a seaside town. My great grandmother, Frances Bamford, was born in
August, 1838 in Hoar Cross. Although I never met my great grandmother, I feel a very special connection to her and to her village. I also wear her lovely ring which I have just inherited. When I saw your website, I realized that beyond your extraordinary photographic skills, your remarkable eye for composition, and your obvious artistic talent…you offered me, a great granddaughter of Hoar Cross, a chance to see the beautiful Church in Hoar Cross. Surely, my ancestors have either worshipped at or visited this stunningly beautiful church.
Please accept my deepest and most sincere gratitude for the wonderful gift of seeing a bit of my family’s beautiful ancestral village. I often wonder if there are any Bamford family members still there in Hoar Cross. Frances Bamford’s father’s name was Thomas Bamford, I believe born about 1813 and her mother, I believe, Mary Sharrat (possibly Sharrot.) If you know of anyone who shares my family names in the village, I would dearly love to hear from them. My plan is to visit the village within the next year. Your work is very, very beautiful.
Thank you for your sharing some of your beloved Hoar Cross with me, your kindness stays with me always. Sincerely, Denise Orton
