Copyright

I am an avid reader of Jeff Ascough’s Blog and he has recently written an article on copyright infringement which includes some very worrying reading regarding Social networking sites.

Facebook and other networking sites are looking to take control of the copyright of ANY image posted on their websites. This is a very dangerous step and could lead to many ramifications down the line. I feel the industry is finally taking some well thought out steps by relaxing over the whole copyright issues and this move by some of the major players in ‘social networking’ could cause the shutters to be well and truly bolted down by photographers and others working in the creative industry.

I have been forced to add a clause to all new contracts restricting where my images are posted. This clause addition is unfortunate but sadly unavoidable, it is only being added as a direct result of the attempted copyright infringement by these companies. Please remember that all weddings have an online gallery for ninety days so you are welcome to share your photographs with friends and family via my website.
